San Francisco police have detained a man Sunday morning in the Park Presidio area after officers said he allegedly threatened suicide following a driving under the influence stop.

Around midnight, police were asking people to avoid the area of Geary Boulevard and Clement Street due to the incident and heavy police presence.

The incident was concluded around 1 a.m.

Police said the man was pulled over for suspicion of DUI and he then threatened to kill himself.

Police said the man was armed with a knife and cut himself.

Responding officers used flash bang grenades to subdue the suspect.
