The holiday is observed on the 11th day of November and the parade kicked off at 11 a.m. — the same day and time that World War I concluded in 1918 on what was originally known as Armistice Day.

According to parade officials, the parade paid special tribute to the 70th anniversary of World War II and the 10th anniversary of the Afghanistan War.

Charles Morse, 93, a World War II veteran who served in the Marines, servde as the parade's grand marshal. It was the 92nd San Francisco Veterans Day Parade.
