Daly City

Getaway bicycle: Witnesses saw a man on a bicycle pedal rapidly away after stealing a commercial leaf blower and an edger from the open bed of a Gardener’s Guild pickup truck parked on the 2000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard at 11:05 a.m. Oct. 8.

Phony disability: A healthy man was arrested and booked into County Jail on suspicion of misuse of a handicap-parking placard on the 1-100 block of San Pedro Road at 9:30 p.m. Oct. 8.

Laptop in car: An unknown burglar smashed the driver’s-side window of a Nissan Pathfinder in the parking lot of the Ross discount outlet, 311 Gellert Blvd., at 5:20 p.m. Oct. 8. The thief managed to get away with a $1,500 Dell Latitude laptop computer and some $200 worth of accessories.

Redwood City

Alcohol poisoning: A 40-year-old man found passed out from alcohol poisoning on the front lawn of Speedy Oil Change, 550 Veterans Blvd., at 4:18 p.m. Sept. 29 was taken by paramedics to Kaiser Medical Center.

Identity theft: An employee of a business on the 200 block of Walnut Street was arrested at 9:27 a.m. Sept. 27 on suspicion of using acustomer’s credit card to buy things for himself and his wife.

San Mateo

Shots heard: Several callers reported hearing five gunshots coming from somewhere near the 1300 block of Second Avenue at 10 p.m. Sept. 30, possibly fired from a silver Nissan Altima. Police found no sign of the suspects.

Hit, hit and run: A black pickup truck struck a street light and continued eastbound on Bellevue Avenue, shortly afterward striking a Dodge Durango parked on North El Camino Real at 3:04 a.m. on Oct. 7.

Aggressive panhandling: A man bothering customers was made to leave a store on the 4200 block of South El Camino Real at 6:48 p.m. on Oct. 6. He continued loitering in the parking lot and soliciting money from passers-by.
