Authorities today are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 4-month-old infant on Monday afternoon, according to the Pacifica Police Department.
At 1 p.m., Pacifica police and firefighters responded to the 200 block of Brighton Road after being alerted of an infant who was not breathing, police said. Upon arrival, the infant's mother directed emergency personnel to the unresponsive infant, according to police.
Authorities attempted to resuscitate the infant before transferring the 4-month-old to Seton Medical Center where the child was pronounced dead, police said.
The Pacifica Police Department and the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office are investigating circumstances surrounding the infant's death.
