One man stabbed, another beat on the head in Divisadero Street fight

A man was stabbed in the chest and his companion beat over the head in a Thursday night fight on Divisidero Street, according to police.

At 9:50 p.m. Thursday two men – a 59-year-old and a 61-year-old – were walking near the intersection of Divisadero and Oak streets when two men in their late teens or early 20s crossed paths with the two older men.

Then, for unknown reasons, the four men started to fight. One of the younger men hit the 59-year-old in the head with an unknown object and then stabbed him in the chest with what police are calling a machete. Then the second young man hit the 61-year-old several times in the head with a skateboard or a pipe, said police.

The two young men then fled on foot.

Both injured men were taken to San Francisco General Hospital. The man who was stabbed remains in life threatening condition, according to police.
