Oakland police: Driver fatally hit victim on purpose

Police are searching for a suspect who they say they believe intentionally slammed a vehicle into another person late Wednesday night in Oakland, killing the victim.

Officers responded to the 4400 block of Hansen Street about 10 p.m. and found a person injured from a vehicle crash, according to officials. The victim was transported to a local hospital where the victim was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

Police say they believe the driver used the vehicle as a weapon to fatally strike the victim. The suspect driver remains at large, according to officials.
