Newsom tracker: Beach day followed by campaigning

Gavin Newsom may want to break out plenty of sunscreen for Saturday.

The mayor will kick off the warm weekend at Ocean Beach for the 26th annual California Cleanup Day.

After the time out by Fulton Street and the Great Highway, Newsom is scheduled to go door-to-door in Oakland to encourage people to vote in November. He is one of several Democrats scheduled in the event. Others are Virginia Gov. Tom Kaine and Rep. Barbara Lee.
