Newsom left waiting at green-jobs event

Usually, it’s Mayor Gavin Newsom who is notoriously late to public events. But today it was the mayor who was left waiting around.

Newsom arrived promptly at 10 a.m. at the Levi’s Headquarters Building, where he was to announce a new $250,000 donation for green-job training. The mayor and dozens of attendees sat waiting for the other important dignitary to arrive – Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. For a governor who has been a major political force advocating for California’s green tech industry, he seems to be taking his lame-duck status seriously.

When reporters asked what the governor was doing that made him so late, his press staff replied, “You know, just hanging out.”
