All of Mayor Gavin Newsom’s weekend jaunts to Los Angeles are seeming to pay off. Newsom, who is only leading his Republican opponent Abel Maldonado by 4 percentage points in the polls, has garnered a huge amount of Latino support in East Los Angeles, as evidenced by media reports detailing the support Newsom received while he was in Los Angeles this past weekend. It’s a good sign for the mayor who is up against a Spanish-speaking Maldonado, who is known as a moderate maverick in parts of the state.
This news is probably the best birthday gift the mayor could get – he turns 43 today – along with a Giants win.
