Newsmaker: Tom Ammiano

The supervisor, who ran unopposed as a Democrat for California’s 13th Assembly District, will face Republican Harmeet K. Dhillon in November. Ammiano, who is vying to succeed Mark Leno, started his career in city politics in 1990 when he was elected to the San Francisco school board. From 1998-2002 he served as the president of the Board of Supervisors. District 13 covers the eastern portion of The City.
