Monday afternoon Potrero Hill homicide marks SF’s 24th of the year

A 33-year-old man was shot and killed near Potrero Hill Monday afternoon, police said.

Prince Johnson, a San Francisco resident, was found bleeding on the ground from a gunshot wound to the shoulder on the 1000 block of Connecticut Street, where the Potrero Hill housing projects are located between 25th and Wisconsin streets.

Someone then called police around 12:51 p.m. and Johnson was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Officer Grace Gatpandan said.

Police said the gunman is unknown at this time and was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

The Medical Examiner has notified Johnson’s family. Few other details have been released about the incident.

Johnson’s death marks The City’s 24th homicide of the year, according to the police count. He is the 13th black homicide victim in 2015.
