Mirkarimi visiting family in Venezuela

Last week, District 9 Supervisor David Campos skipped out on a board meeting to foster stronger ties with one of San Francisco’s sister cities, Barcelona.

This week, it’s District 5 Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi skipping Tuesday’s board meeting.

His office says it is only Mirkarimi’s second time missing a meeting, and the first time was to attend a conference on transportation.

This time, Mirkarimi traveled to Venezuela to visit his baby boy and the child’s mother, who is in her home country filming a movie, which will last another month. His office said Mirkarimi was missing his child so much he decided to make the trip. He flew out last Thursday and returns Wednesday.
