A 47-year-old man reportedly went underneath a South of Market on-ramp to smoke methamphetamine Tuesday when he was struck across the head with a bat, police said.
Two men and a woman started to argue with the victim near the intersection of Essex and Folsom streets around 2:15 a.m., police said. One of the men then swung the bat at the victim.
While the victim was dizzy, the suspects took his cellphone and backpack. He was taken to the hospital with a laceration to his head.
No detailed description of the suspects has been released.
