When it comes to leveraging federal funds for city coffers, Mayor Gavin Newsom isn’t ever going to hold his tongue.
The Mayor issued a long-winded statement today essentially begging San Francisco residents to fill out the census questionnaire that is expected to show up in mailboxes later this week.
And he cares because …
For every resident who accurately gets counted, The City stands to gain about $4,000 in federal funds that will help pay for roads, schools, hospitals and other critical services, the mayor said.
“It’s critical that all residents fill out this form fully and truthfully,” Newsom said. “Our efforts to preserve core city services depend on it.”
