Mayor Lee, Supervisor Farrell to host online forum on SF budget

One resolution for Mayor Ed Lee in 2015 could be to declare a moratorium on evictions in The City.

Mayor Ed Lee is turning to the Internet to discuss the city’s two-year budget proposal and seek input from residents who  have the chance to ask questions live during the event or to submit them in advance.

Lee, who will be joined by chair of the Board of Supervisors Budget and Finance Committee, will host the online town hall meeting on the city’s budget on May 1 between 9:30 am and 10:30 am. [jump]
Lee said he was “excited to hear directly from residents about how they want us to invest their tax dollars.” Farrell said, “Hearing from the public is absolutely essential to our process.”

The online event comes as San Francisco has projected budget deficits of are $66.7 million in FY 2014-15 and $133.4 million in FY 2015-16, even as the local economy is booming and tax revenues increasing

The mayor must submit a balanced two-year city budget to the Board of Supervisors for review and adoption by June 2.

Viewers will be able to connect to a live stream through the Mayor’s home page at or directly through YouTube at Questions can be submitted directly to Mayor Lee by emailing them to with the subject line “Online Budget Town Hall.” Questions via Twitter will be incorporated into the dialogue, which can be tweeted in advance or during the Online Town Hall to @MayorEdLee using hashtag #SFBudget.
