The transient who pepper-sprayed Carls Jr. employees who he believed were poisoning him pleaded no contest to the charges Wednesday.
Richard Allen English Jr., 52, had been living near a creek close to the fast food eatery in San Carlos when he allegedly concocted a plan to fight poison with poison on May 3, San Mateo County prosecutors said.
English entered his plea Wednesday on condition that he would receive no state prison time, prosecutors said. He faces up to one year in county jail and will receive treatment at a mental health facility, they said.
The defendant remains in custody on $50,000 bail.
