Man who escaped from county jail found in Concord

A 22-year-old man suspected of child molestation was found in Concord this morning after escaping from the Martinez Detention Facility Tuesday night, Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

Patrick Libby was found in north Concord shortly after 8 a.m. today, Lee said.

Libby had been arrested by Brentwood police for child molestation and unlawful intercourse with a minor, Lee said.

He had been taken to the Martinez jail for booking when, at about 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, he managed to run out of the jail's entrance while still in handcuffs and escape into downtown Martinez, Lee said.
