Man suffers life-threatening injuries in attack near Fort Mason

A man was seriously injured in an assault near Fort Mason early Sunday morning, according to San Francisco police.

The victim, a 29-year-old man, was attacked around 4:15 a.m. in the area of Buchanan and North Point streets and was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

A male suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, driving north on North Point, police said. No description of him or the vehicle had been released as of Monday morning, however, and police did not specify what weapon, if any, was used in the attack.
