Man snatches phone from woman’s purse on Muni

Police are looking for a man who snatched a woman’s cellphone from her purse while riding Muni in the Sunset District on Tuesday evening.

The robbery happened at about 7:20 p.m. in the area of 40th Avenue and Judah Street after the 28-year-old woman stashed her phone in her purse, police said.

The suspect, described as a man in his late teens or early 20s, then reached into her purse and grabbed the phone.

After a brief struggle over the phone, the suspect managed to take hold of it and ran from the Muni train, police said.

The woman was not injured and no arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning.
