Man slain in Excelsior neighborhood

A man was shot dead in the Excelsior neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, police Officer Gordon Shyy said.

Police responded to the scene at Mission Street and Brazil Avenue about 4 p.m. on calls of shots fired, Shyy said. Upon arrival, police discovered a male victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.

A male suspect was seen fleeing the scene on foot, Shyy said. There was no further description late Wednesday.
