Man shot, woman stabbed in separate Mission district attacks

A man was shot and a woman stabbed about an hour apart in the Mission district Wednesday.

A 29-year-old man survived a shooting at 17th and Mission streets just after 2 a.m., police said. Only a block away about an hour earlier, a 27-year-old woman was cut in the leg with a machete in the area of 16th and Mission streets, police said.

The victims in both attacks were transported to San Francisco General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

It was not immediately known whether the incidents were related.

There has been no arrest in either case.

Further details, including motive and suspect information, was not immediately available. Police described the suspect in the stabbing as a man in his late 30s.
