Man shot during attempted robbery in Bayview

A man was injured in a shooting during an attempted robbery in the Bayview district Wednesday, police said.

The 22-year-old victim was approached by two men in their 20s in the 1200 block of Hollister Avenue about 10 p.m., police said, and demanded the victim’s cellphone.

One of the men pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim. The victim refused to give up his phone and the armed suspect shot him in the upper body, police said.

The victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries, which were not life-threatening.
