Man shot dead with AK-47 assault rifle in Bayview

A 63-year-old man was gunned down with an AK-47 assault rifle in the Bayview Sunday night, police said.

Someone opened fire with the gun around 10:40 p.m. near Third Street and La Salle Avenue. Few other details of the shooting were released, other than the suspects being described as two men.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital. He died from his wounds.

Sunday’s homicide marks the 23rd of the year. The last homicides in The City occurred a day apart, when a man was stabbed to death May 30 near Civic Center Plaza and another man was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head May 31 in McLaren Park.Bay Area NewsCrimeCrime & CourtsHomicideSan Francisco Crime
