Man robbed at gunpoint in the Bayview then pistol-whipped

A man was robbed at gunpoint and pistol-whipped in the Bayview early Wednesday morning, police said.

The 30-year-old victim was accosted by the armed suspect in the 1700 block of La Salle Avenue about 2:32 a.m., police said. The suspect pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his property.

The victim handed the suspect his wallet and walked away, but the crook was not done with him. He followed the victim and pistol-whipped him before stealing the victim's cellphone.

The crook fled and was not arrested.
