Man knocked unconscious, robbed in Chinatown

A 47-year-old man blacked out when he was struck in the back of the head and then robbed in Chinatown early Tuesday morning.

The man was near the intersection of Pacific and Grant avenues around 2:30 a.m. when someone hit him with an unknown weapon, knocking him unconscious, police said.

The assailant then took the man’s smartphone, wallet, cash and credit cards.

When the man woke up, he sought treatment at San Francisco General Hospital for swelling to his face, lip and head. The injuries were not life-threatening.
