Man knocked out during fight in the Mission

A man was knocked unconscious during a fight in the Mission district early this morning, police said.

The 39-year-old male victim was involved in a fight with a male suspect, aged 22, in the 500 block of Valencia about 1:24 a.m. When the victim swung and missed, police said, the suspect knocked the victim to the ground with a punch.

The suspect then rendered the victim unconscious by kicking him in the head.

The suspect fled in a blue vehicle eastbound on 16th Street.

The victim was treated at the hospital for a head injury, police said. The injury was not considered life-threatening. No arrest has been made.
