Man injured in Bayview shooting on Saturday

A man was injured in a shooting in the Bayview on Saturday, police said.

The 25-year-old victim was parking his car near the intersection of Gould Street and Salinas Avenue about 9:38 a.m. when a suspect drove up in another car and opened fire, police said.

The victim was struck in the leg, police said. He was hospitalized for his injuries, which were not life threatening.

The suspect fled the scene; the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

It was the first of at least two shootings in the Bayview on Saturday.

About 6:25 p.m., two men were arrested in connection with a shooting that took place at Ingalls Street and Revere Avenue.

Michael Essick and Olujimi “Charles” Mabrey, both 26, were booked on gang-related and firearm charges in connection with the shooting after police apprehended them at Oakdale Avenue and Keith Street. Police said there is a third suspect in that shooting, but that suspect is still at large.

No one was reported to have been injured in that shooting.
