Man faces felony charges for alleged Bayview hit-and-run

An elderly woman and child were taken to the hospital after a hit-and-run incident Monday evening in the Bayview district, according to police.

The two victims, a 68-year-old-woman and a 13-year-old girl, were crossing the street at 6:40 p.m. at the intersection of Williams Avenue and Apollo Street when they were were struck by a black two-door Infiniti I30, police said.

Police said they arrested Richard Bilworth, 55,in a backyard at Bridgeview Drive, a few blocks north of where the hit-and-run was reported, after they located his vehicle in the area.

Bilworth, who police suspect was under the influence at the time of the collision, was booked into county jail and faces felony DUI and hit-and-run charges.

Police said the victim’s injuries were non-life threatening. The woman suffered from a broken knee and the girl cited head pain, according to police reports.
