Man assaulted, robbed near Powell Street BART Station

A man was assaulted and robbed near the Powell Street BART station early Tuesday, police said.

The 31-year-old victim was at Eddy and Cyril Magnin streets walking toward the BART station about 12:25 a.m. when four thugs approached and one of them punched him in the face, which knocked him to the ground, police said.

The crooks then snatched the victim's wallet and fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The man had some swelling to his face, but refused medical treatment at the scene.

No arrests have been made.
