Male victim dies of wounds after shooting in Inner Mission area

A male victim died at a hospital from multiple gun shot wounds fired by an unknown assailant this morning in the Inner Mission neighborhood, a spokesman for San Francisco police said.

Police responded at 1:30 a.m. today to a shooting in the area of 16th and Valencia streets where an armed suspect shot the victim more than once before fleeing, according to Officer Gordon Shyy.

The injured male was transported to San Francisco General Hospital where he died, Shyy reported.

The Police Department is urging anyone with information about the fatal shooting to call police at (415) 553-1145.
