Achievement Social worker-turned-filmmaker Tooke has received a 2008 Student Academy Award for her short film, “Circles of Confusion,” a meditative documentary about loss in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Describing her work as “documentary and experimental in nature,” Tooke plans to make more short films and then undertake a full-length project. “I also hope to teach film at the college level,” says Tooke, a native New Orleanian who got her master’s degree from S.F. State last year.
