Having a gas: 22 propane tanks stolen from Ace Hardware in Laurel Heights

With excessive winds whipping through San Francisco Wednesday night and expected to last through Thursday, some thieves are looking for creative ways to stay warm.

For instance, an Ace Hardware Store was robbed Tuesday evening of 22 propane tanks, according to San Francisco police.

Exactly what the perpetrators are looking to do with the stolen merchandise is unknown, cops said. The store, located at California and Locust streets, was closed when the tanks were taken.

There are no suspects in custody.
