Free Wi-Fi network to expand

Mayor Gavin Newsom is expected to announce the expansion of The City’s Wi-Fi network today. The City has been working with Meraki, a San Francisco-based company, to offer free high-speed wireless Internet access. Meraki’s network works by broadcasting signals from rooftop to rooftop. Newsom promoted the strategy in June, saying he wants to blanket The City, starting with public housing.
