Fatal motorcycle crash prompts closure of Broadway Tunnel

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in The City's Broadway Tunnel tonight, a police spokesman said.

The crash happened at about 7:55 p.m. and the tunnel remained closed in both directions as of 8:30 p.m., police Officer Boaz Mariles said.

Preliminary reports indicate the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was speeding prior to the crash, Mariles said. No other vehicles appear to have been involved.
