Fairmont unveils its holiday gingerbread house

A massive two-story gingerbread house measuring 19 feet high by 16 feet wide by 8 feet deep will be unveiled at the Fairmont San Francisco at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The house is constructed of 4,000 pieces of gingerbread, 550 pounds of icing, 200 pounds of candy and eight gallons of chocolate.

It took approximately 460 hours to construct, including baking and engineering. Inside the gingerbread house will be a room where children can write letters to Santa.
