Excelsior gunshot victim ID’d as 26-year-old SF resident

A man shot and killed in the Excelsior neighborhood Saturday night has been identified as Luis Velasquez-Mejia, 26, of San Francisco, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The San Francisco Police Department responded to a report of a shooting Saturday night at 11:45 p.m. at the 500 block of Naples Street, as the San Francisco Examiner previously reported.

Police arrived at the scene within a block of Excelsior Playground and found Velasquez-Mejia suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
