Ed Lee to enter mayor's race

Mayor Ed Lee will formally declare his candidacy for a full term Monday morning despite earlier pledges not to run, multiple sources tonight confirmed. Lee said he has changed his mind and wants to continue to try to make progress on the many issues he's been working on for the past seven months.

Lee, who has been mum about his decision despite rumors and pressure from private citizens, is expected to make an announcement at 9 a.m. Monday.

The specifics of the announcement are still unknown, but he is planning on making this declaration – whatever it may be – at the Department of Elections, according to sources.

If he does join the race, he’ll be one of roughly three dozen hopefuls, all of whom must file their intentions to run for The City’s top office by Friday.
