A 17-year-old boy was injured by gunfire in East Palo Alto early Sunday morning, police said.
Officers responded to an activation of the city’s ShotSpotter gunshot detection system near 224 Daphne Way at about 12:15 a.m.
Arriving police found a teenage boy who had been hit by gunfire in his lower extremities. Menlo Park firefighters treated the boy at the scene and he was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a fight had started between two groups of people, during which an unknown suspect fired a gun into the crowd and struck the victim.
The shooter has not been identified.
