Driver, vehicle located in fatal pedestrian collision

San Francisco police have located the driver and vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run collision involving a skateboarder in the Bayview district Saturday evening.

The collision was reported at Third and Cargo streets around 9:30 p.m., according to police.

A pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and the involved vehicle left the area, police said.

Police said the victim was a male on a skateboard who was believed to be in his 20s or 30s.

Police now believe it is possible the driver did not know he hit the pedestrian, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
