Downed windsurfer picked up near Aquatic Park

The U.S. Coast Guard said this afternoon it responded to a report of a windsurfer down in the water between Aquatic Park and Fort Mason.

Petty Officer Kevin Neff at the Alameda Station said San Francisco police requested the Coast Guard's assistance at about 3:10 p.m.

A fast-response boat was dispatched from the Coast Guard's Golden Gate station, Neff said.

A Coast Guard seaman there said the windsurfer had been picked up but had no other details.
