Ding-dong. Who’s there? The cable car ringing contest

Two years shy of its golden year, Muni’s moving monuments will clamor at the 48th annual Cable Car Bell Ringing contest on Tuesday.

The contest starts at noon in Union Square with two competitions, one for the amateurs — local media and community representatives — and another for the all-stars — car gripmen and conductors.

And the weather woman says it should be sunny, too.
