Death of 4-year-old girl being treated as suspicious

The death of a 4-year-old girl is being investigated as suspicious after authorities found the child unresponsive during a well-being check in the Bayview on Sunday morning, according to police.

Officers and paramedics found the girl at about 10:08 a.m. at a location on Thomas Avenue between Ingalls and Hawes streets, police said. They transferred her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the girl as Genesis Torres.

Police department homicide investigators are looking into the death.
