A Bay Area doctor was sentenced on Wednesday to two years in prison for possession of child pornography.
Joseph Andrew Mollick, 60, of Menlo Park pleaded guilty to the possession charge on Jan. 9, according to a United State Department of Justice statement.
Mollick – who worked at various Bay Area hospitals – admitted in his plea agreement that in 2019 he used the social media application Kik to upload a "visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct."
"Mollick admitted he knew the image was of a prepubescent minor and that its production involved the use of a prepubescent minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct," according to the DOJ. "Mollick also possessed on his personal laptop at least 2000 images and videos depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct."
In addition to the 24-month prison sentence, Mollick was ordered to serve 60 months of supervised release after his prison term, and to pay a fine of $25,000.
