Carjackers target pair along Great Highway

A man and a woman told police their car was stolen at Ocean Beach early Thursday.

Just after 2 a.m., police said, two thugs drove up as the man and woman were walking to their car in the 800 block of Great Highway. One reportedly pointed a gun at the man and said he was taking the vehicle.

The victim handed over the keys, police said, and the thug took off with the car while the other suspect followed in his vehicle.

A cellphone and purse also were stolen, police said.
