Car theft suspect shot during police pursuit

A police pursuit from San Pablo into Richmond on Wednesday night ended with an officer shooting and injuring a suspected car thief, a Richmond police lieutenant said Thursday.

A San Pablo police officer who had chased the suspect into Richmond shot and wounded the alleged thief on Rydin Road near Central Avenue, Richmond police Lt. Bisa French said.

<p>The shooting occurred just before 10 p.m. Wednesday, she said, adding that she did not know the suspect’s condition.
San Pablo police were not immediately available to comment on the shooting.
