Cameras help free falsely accused man

City security cameras helped exonerate a man falsely accused of armed robbery this month — the second time this has happened in the previous 12 months, Public Defender Jeff Adachi said.

Felony charges against DeAndre Barney were dismissed July 10 after video footage showed that the car he was driving at the time of a May 22 armed robbery on Haight Street was not the car used in the robbery.

Video footage showed the suspects left the scene four minutes earlier than police thought, and that Barney’s photographed license plate was not on the car used in the getaway.
