Cab driver threatened by knife-wielding man, causes cab to crash

A cab driver was threatened by a knife-wielding man in the Financial District causing him to crash, police said.

The driver picked up the suspect in the incident as a fare at Bush Street and Treasury Alley, police said.

The suspect then held a knife the driver's face and a struggle ensued causing the cab to crash and the suspect subsequently fled the scene.

The cab crash caused damage to a garbage can, parking meter, bike lock and two walls.

The driver sustained a puncture wound to his cheek and a laceration to his hand. He was taken to the hospital for his injuries, which were not life threatening.

The driver was not robbed in the incident.
