Bridge accident delays Caltrain service

Caltrain service has been delayed today following an accident involving a garbage truck running into a train bridge near Monte Diablo Avenue in San Mateo, a Caltrain official said.

The accident occurred about 7:45 a.m. today when a garbage truck hit a bridge, the representative said.

By 10:30 a.m., trains were running about 10 minutes late because inspectors had to make sure the bridge was safe for train travel, according to the representative. Trains will be back on schedule soon, according to the representative.
