Bottle-wielding maniac attacks couple

A deranged man attacked a couple walking along The Embarcadero Sunday.

The suspect swung a glass bottle at the victim’s wife during the attack, which occurred just south of Grant Avenue around 8 p.m., police said.

The incident began when the lunatic suddenly began yelling “racial and derogatory statements” at the couple. The husband stood in the way of the attacker’s opportunity to strike his wife, police said.

The suspect then put the bottle down and “took a fighting stance,” closing and raising his fists, police said.

With the help of Pier 39 security, cops were able to detain the man, police said.
