Bill to request cash for district

Spending more city dollars on law enforcement and anti-violence programs to counter a recent wave of violence in the Mission district is being proposed by the supervisor who represents the neighborhood.

District 9 Supervisor Tom Ammiano held a meeting Monday morning with police Chief Heather Fong, other command staff and community groups to address recent incidents and fears of retaliatory gang
violence.

Ammiano is expected to introduce a request at today’s Board of Supervisors meeting for a committee hearing on law enforcement’s strategy to bring violence in the Mission under control. — Joshua Sabatini
